Description of Vocational Programm
DCS Vocational program consists of contractual work, supported
employment and community based work crews. The vocational program
is currently housed in two locations, one in Cambridge and the other
in Hurlock, MD. A third location in Talbot County will be available
in _____________. The vocational program works with the individual
consumer to develop a program that meets the needs of the individual.
The focus of the vocational program is a meaningful day for each
participant. There are many opportunities for socialization and
community activities. The vocational program continues to expand
its services and develop more opportunities for the consumer involved.
Operating hours are 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Transportation
is usually provided.
Vocational services
Vocational services available to assist local businesses include
pick-up and delivery. DCS is competitively priced. We offer quality
assurance and quick turn around time:
Confidential paper shredding (pick-up and recycle or come to you
facility)
Office cleaning
Bus/car wash exterior and interior cleaning
Catering
Lawn maintenance
Moving
Set-up and breakdown of chairs and table for events and parties
Assist with mailings, labeling, sorting, inserting, and processing
mail orders
Assembly work
Workforce resources
Workforce resources, a division of the DCS vocational program is
a supported employment program being developed that will meet the
needs for permanent and temporary workers in the local community.
Employer benefits include tax incentives, free job analysis, free
job coaching, and free advertising. Candidates for employment benefit
by full or part time employment in the community with supports from
the company and DCS.
Contract work
Contract work is also available in site and both locations of DCS.
One on-going contract is making oyster bags for the Oyster Recovery
Partnership at Horn Point. Other contract works include assembling
sales brochures for AIRPAX and mailings for various community organizations.
Currently, DCS is under application with the MD Works network of
providers to be eligible to apply for state contracts.
Wood shop
The wood shop is located at the Cambridge location of DCS. Picnic
tables and Adirondack chairs are made on site and sold to the public.
Small wooden seasonal craft items are cut, sanded, painted and decorated
then sold to the public.
