About Senior Services In Dorchester County

The Dorchester County MAC Program is part of Maintaining Active Citizens (MAC), Inc., the area Agency on Aging for Dorchester, Somerset, Wicomico and Worcester counties.

The purpose of the program, under the auspices of Delmarva Community Services, Inc., is to enable persons 60 or older to maintain an independent lifestyle for as long as possible, preferably within their own homes.

To achieve this goal, MAC serves as a focal point from which to address social and economic issues identified by older persons. MAC provides a full range of services, including health, nutrition, transportation, education and recreation.

Meals-on-Wheels:
Older persons need proper nutrition to maintain good health. The Home-Delivered Meal Program, better known as "Meals on Wheels," provides a life-giving service to the homebound elderly who are confined to bed, lack transportation, or are too frail to cook for themselves. While delivering meals, the driver serves as a link to other community services and resources. The regular visits also provide reassurance and alleviate some of the anxieties of those elderly persons who live alone. Meals on Wheels is supported by the United Way.
